Canora Studio is dedicated to providing high-quality instruction and nurturing a supportive learning environment, following the belief that anyone can achieve high ability at the instrument when given excellent teaching, effective practice strategies, and the best resources and support available. Canora incorporates research-backed learning models and proven approaches to help students achieve lasting success. Tatum’s instruction is informed by years of teaching experience, conservatory-level training, and intensive study in both traditional and Suzuki methods. In addition to weekly lessons, she will provide individualized guidance for home practice, access to resources, opportunities for performance and community engagement, and ongoing parent education and support. A student’s success in Canora Studio ultimately depends on each student’s individual investment. Parent involvement in lessons and at home is crucial for young and early learners, and at this stage, parents are expected to be present and engaged in lessons so that they can support the student’s home practice and accelerate learning.

Studio information and policies

I. Schedule:

• Canora Studio operates on a semester schedule, with weekly lessons offered from late August to mid-December, and mid-January through May. Summer lessons are offered on a rolling basis.
• If a spot is available, students may join during the semester at a prorated rate.
• Each semester includes 16 weeks of private lessons.
• Students have opportunities to perform in formal studio recitals each year, as well as additional performance practice through monthly studio classes.
• Lessons are available at 30, 45, and 60-minute lengths.
• Pending availability, additional lessons or “practice sessions” can be scheduled online on a per-session basis for students seeking extra support, or in preparation for an upcoming audition, competition, performance, or event.

II. Tuition:

• Semester tuition is due in full, ten (10) days prior to the start of each semester in order to reserve a student’s spot in the studio.
  • Canora Studio occasionally offers more flexible payment plans upon student request but will include the applicable processing and administrative fees.
• A $60 studio fee is included in semester tuition and covers any accompanist fees, studio materials, recital venue booking, and related expenses.
• Payment methods: Payments can be made via Stripe, PayPal, etc., with a 3% processing fee. No fee will be assessed for Zelle, check, or cash payments.

Discounts	Description/Eligibility
Sibling Discount	Receive $60 off tuition for each sibling that enrolls in Canora Studio.
Off-Peak Lesson Time Discount	Students who schedule an off-peak lesson time (weekdays before 3:00 pm) receive a 5% discount on semester tuition.
Referral Discount	Refer a new student who enrolls for a full semester, and both you and the new student will receive a $50 credit toward the following semester’s tuition. To receive the credit, the referred student must list you as their referral on the enrollment form.

III. Attendance/Makeups:

• A specific day and time is reserved for each student and cannot be filled in the event of an absence.
• Canora Studio does not give refunds, credits, or make-up lessons for student absences (including illness, travel, school, or family events).
• If a student is unable to attend their in-person lesson, they may:

1. Swap lesson times with another student within the same week. This option is available for students who opted in to the studio’s lesson exchange list via the enrollment form/contract submitted at the beginning of the year.
2. Attend the lesson via Zoom
3. Submit a video recording for asynchronous feedback.

• In the event of a teacher absence, a virtual lesson will take place or a make-up lesson will be scheduled on the reserved make-up day: Saturday. Missed make-up lessons are considered student absences.

IV. Illness:

• In an effort to maintain a healthy studio environment, students with a contagious illness should not attend lessons in person. Tatum has extensive experience providing effective online instruction and can quickly pivot to teach a lesson online when needed.
• Students who arrive visibly ill or contagious may be asked to complete the remaining lesson time online from home, or forfeit the rest of the lesson. See makeup policies for scheduling a makeup/switch/or online lesson in advance.

V. Media Notice:

• Photos and videos of lessons, studio classes, recitals, and other studio events will be taken throughout the year for educational, archival, community, and studio marketing purposes.

• Families and students who do not want to appear in one or all of these categories must submit a media opt-out form prior to the start of the semester here.

VI. Other Studio Policies

• New students must complete required forms for enrollment found in the current student portal, due along with the first tuition payment.
